Easton's Legacy Toy Drive

Each September we lead a memorial toy drive to benefit the children of PCH. This began almost 7 years ago when Kursty and I lost our little boy Easton to his battle with primitive neuroectodermal tumors (pnet, pronounced peanut). Our yearly memorial toy drive, occurring in conjunction with his birthday, is our way to celebrate his life and remember him. Our campaign initially began small with close friends and family participating. However, over the past few years it has grown to include many other groups and organizations in our community.

Once again we have joined up with Derrick and Rochelle Spitzer, the owners of CrossFit Incite to host a memorial fitness event in conjunction with the toy drive. We invite the community and neighboring CrossFit gyms across the Phoenix valley to join us for our workout event and competition. For admission into the event we ask for the donation of a new unopened toy, which will be given to a cancer patient at PCH.

There are lots of new happenings this year with in conjunction with the event including (but not limited to):

· The General Workout

As we have done it the past two years. For participation please bring a donation of a new unopened toy for achild at PCH or a $10 donation to be used toward the purchase of toys, or to assist with these children’s needs (pharmacy girt cards, grocery gift cards, etc.)


· The Official Competition

This is for those who want to compete in the official competition for prizes. The entry fee is $35 and will include the official Easton’s Legacy T-shirt as long as you pre-register by September 5th. Please send an email to eastonslegacy@gmail.com to pre-register.


· Online Auctions

Beginning on September 1st we will be posting several online auctions for a number of fantastic items that have been donated. You need not be present to win.


· Raffles

We have numerous amazing items that have been donated and will be raffled off at the event. Raffle tickets will be $2 each of 3 for $5. You need not be present to win.


· Door Prizes

As a thank you, every participant will be entered in for door prizes that will be given away throughout the event. You must be present to win the door prizes.


· Sample Products

Several organizations have donated products for participants to sample.


· Official Event T-Shirts

We have done our first t-shirt pre-order. However, by popular request we have spoken with our printer and he is willing to help us get another order done in time. All orders must be in by September 5th. The pre-order cost is $20 per shirt, they are Next Level bended material, adult sizes only, and come in different cuts for women and men. We will have a limited number of shirts to sell at the event. The cost at the event will be $25. Please email us at eastonslegacy@gmail.com to place an order.


· The Waffle Crush Truck

The Waffle Crush Truck will be at the event selling their delicious waffles and will be donating a percentage of all sales.

100% of the funds generated will go to assist the children of PCH and for their support.

We did it!!

WOW! What an amazing day yesterday was, look at what we accomplished, I cannot wait to see the smiles these will bring! Thank you so much to all those who have helped us make this into what it has become, a huge thank you to Derrick Spitzer and Rochelle Seever Spitzerfor helping us go even bigger for the third year in a row! Thank you all the other local boxes that gathered toys, brought out equipment, came and participated and helped spread the word about our event and child hood cancer awareness! Thank you to all of your sweet children who came out and got involved, thank you to our vendors our families and our friends who we consider to be our family! Especially our incite family we love you all so much! Not only did we collect all these wonderful toys to be donated in my sweet Easton's memory but we are estimating (will have the final total tomorrow evening) that we have raised at least $3500 in funds to be donated to the families of the PCH patients. ONLY ONE MORE DAY!!!
We have a number of updates/reminders for everyone about the various events tomorrow. 

THE WOD
The first heat is scheduled to begin tomorrow morning at 8:00 AM.  If you want to participate in this heat please arrive by 7:45.  We will run heats every 30 minutes which should allow plenty of time for announcements/door prizes, group led stretching, and the 13 minute workout.  We will try to cap each heat at about 30 participants.  Up to 5 of spots per heat will be reserved for the official competitors.  For participation in the WOD we ask for the donation of a new unopened toy, or $10 to go to the children at PCH.  In addition to participation in the WOD, you will receive a door prize ticket. 

The Official Competition
We were a little worried at first, but have received lots of recent interest and sign-ups for the official competition.  As of right now we have about 15-20 competitors, but will continue to allow people to sign up for the official competition through the event.  Remember, the cost to participate in the competition is $35.  This entry fee will take the place of your toy or $10 donation for the general event.  It will also include an official Easton’s Legacy WOD t-shirt IF AVAILABLE.  Because we had to have the shirt order in several weeks ago, we tried to estimate how many extra we would need for competitors and for general sales at the event.  Unfortunately, we are already out of women’s size small and are running short on a couple of other sizes.  We are working to see what it would take to do another t-shirt order for those of you who want one and are okay receiving it in a couple of weeks.  Competitors will also receive a can of Kill Cliff and Kill Cliff cozy in addition to the other samples available to everyone.  The winning guy and gal will each receive the following:
-4 pack of Fit Aid
-4 pack of Kill Cliff
-1 Cellucor t-shirt
-2 lbs Cellucor Protein Powder
-1 Certificate good for 1 Rx Smart Gear jump rope
-1 Certificate good for a pair of natural grips
-1 Smart Shaker bottle
-10 servings of Cellucor Alpha Amino

Samples and Water
There will be plenty of cold bottled water for everyone who comes out tomorrow.  You do not need to participate in the WOD and there is no charge.  Everyone who comes will also receive a Perfect Bar and a sample of Cellucor Alpha Amino while supplies last. We ask that each person be considerate and only take one.  Alpha Amino may not be suitable for your children, but they are welcome to have a Perfect Bar.

Day Care and Children
The day care will be open.  You are welcome to drop your children off during your heat.  However, we ask that children only be in the daycare during your heat so that the workers are not overwhelmed with a huge number of children.  Also, please keep your children with you at all times.  We do not want any little ones getting trampled during a workout.  Also, please keep your children off of all gym equipment!  It is heavy, dangerous, and expensive.   The Spitzers have been AMAZING about partnering with us for this event each year and letting us use their box.  Please make sure your children are respectful of the equipment and facilities.

Children’s WOD
We have designated the 10:00 AM heat to be for all children 5 years of age and up.  We will have trained coaches and adults on hand to assist them through the same WOD that the adults are doing.  We will be holding a special door prize drawing for the children and have a few goodies for them as well.

The Online Auction
Our online auction began on September 1st and will conclude at 6:00 PM tomorrow evening.  Any bids time stamped 6:01 PM or later will not be accepted.  Please contact us within 24 hours of the close of the auction to arrange for item pickup and payment.  We have had a number of amazing prizes donated and a number of equally amazing bids.  Please check out the auction page at the link below for additional details.

Raffles
We have MANY amazing items to be raffled off tomorrow at the event.  Some of the items include sports memorabilia, workout clothing, supplements, food items, various gift certificates, and just about everything else you could imagine.  Items will be on display at the event tomorrow in some format.  Raffle tickets are $2 each or 3 for $5.  All drawings will take place shortly after the final heat.  You need not be present at the time of the drawing to win.  Tickets can be bought at the event or you can contact Kursty or I to purchase tickets via PayPal.  We will be happy to enter them into the raffles of your choice.  We hope to have a complete list of raffle prizes posted later today.

Door Prizes
All participants in the WOD, official competition, and volunteers of the event will receive a ticket for our door prize drawings.  We have many door prizes that will be given out throughout the event tomorrow.  They include clothing, supplements, gift certificates, etc.  You must be present at the time your ticket is drawn to win, come early for the best chances at door prizes.

Waffle Crush
Waffle Crush will be at the event from 8:00-12:00 selling amazing waffles.  Come work out and then refuel! A portion of their sales will be going to the Easton’s Legacy toy fund.  We will have a shaded area with tables and chairs just outside of the box (gym) for you to relax and enjoy!

We have put together a list of the raffle, door prizes, and sample that will be at the event on the 20th.  We have had a number of additional pledges for raffle prizes over the past few days and will update this list as we firm up some of the details for those items.  If you have anything you would like to donate as raffle or door prize, please let us know ASAP.  THANKS!

RAFFLES
Raffle tickets can be purchased at the event on the 20th. They will also be available in advance of the event and can be purchased via PayPal.  You do not need to be present at the time of the drawings to win. We are happy to enter your tickets into the raffle drawings of your choice at the event on your behalf if you cannot attend.  Tickets are $2 each or 3 for $5.  Winners will be drawn after the end of the event and anyone not present will be notified later that day.  100% of the funds raised from the raffle will toward toys and the needs of the cancer children at PCH.

Event Schedule

Hey guys just wanted to give everyone a preview of how the day is going to go. We will have the normal memorial wod which everyone who brings either a new unopened toy or a $10 donation will participate in, heats will run approximately every half hour and will include 25 regular participants and 5 competitors in each. The competitors will be doing the same wod, the only difference is that they are not allowed to scale and they will be judged and scored. The registration fee for competitors is $35. Please let me know if you have any questions and I will be happy to answer. Today is the last day to order and pay for shirts at the $20 price, we will have a few to sell the day of but quantities will be limited. Also there will be a separate kids only heat that will be at 10:00 am for children ages 5 & up.Thank you all so much for your support and help!
