Easton's Legacy Toy Drive

Each September we lead a memorial toy drive to benefit the children of PCH. This began almost 7 years ago when Kursty and I lost our little boy Easton to his battle with primitive neuroectodermal tumors (pnet, pronounced peanut). Our yearly memorial toy drive, occurring in conjunction with his birthday, is our way to celebrate his life and remember him. Our campaign initially began small with close friends and family participating. However, over the past few years it has grown to include many other groups and organizations in our community.

Once again we have joined up with Derrick and Rochelle Spitzer, the owners of CrossFit Incite to host a memorial fitness event in conjunction with the toy drive. We invite the community and neighboring CrossFit gyms across the Phoenix valley to join us for our workout event and competition. For admission into the event we ask for the donation of a new unopened toy, which will be given to a cancer patient at PCH.

There are lots of new happenings this year with in conjunction with the event including (but not limited to):

· The General Workout

As we have done it the past two years. For participation please bring a donation of a new unopened toy for achild at PCH or a $10 donation to be used toward the purchase of toys, or to assist with these children’s needs (pharmacy girt cards, grocery gift cards, etc.)


· The Official Competition

This is for those who want to compete in the official competition for prizes. The entry fee is $35 and will include the official Easton’s Legacy T-shirt as long as you pre-register by September 5th. Please send an email to eastonslegacy@gmail.com to pre-register.


· Online Auctions

Beginning on September 1st we will be posting several online auctions for a number of fantastic items that have been donated. You need not be present to win.


· Raffles

We have numerous amazing items that have been donated and will be raffled off at the event. Raffle tickets will be $2 each of 3 for $5. You need not be present to win.


· Door Prizes

As a thank you, every participant will be entered in for door prizes that will be given away throughout the event. You must be present to win the door prizes.


· Sample Products

Several organizations have donated products for participants to sample.


· Official Event T-Shirts

We have done our first t-shirt pre-order. However, by popular request we have spoken with our printer and he is willing to help us get another order done in time. All orders must be in by September 5th. The pre-order cost is $20 per shirt, they are Next Level bended material, adult sizes only, and come in different cuts for women and men. We will have a limited number of shirts to sell at the event. The cost at the event will be $25. Please email us at eastonslegacy@gmail.com to place an order.


· The Waffle Crush Truck

The Waffle Crush Truck will be at the event selling their delicious waffles and will be donating a percentage of all sales.

100% of the funds generated will go to assist the children of PCH and for their support.

Who's up for a friendly competition?


The Easton WOD
13 Minute AMRAP for Time
·         200 m run
·         13 Wall Ball (20/14lbs)
·         13 Burpees
·         13 Pull-ups

The Main Event
As in past years, the primary activity at our event will be our traditional Easton’s WOD, broken down into 10 heats (including a children’s heat at 10am).  Everyone is invited to participate in this 13 minute workout by donating a new unopened toy to go to a child at PCH, or for a $10 donation to be used for toys, pharmacy gift cards, etc.

NEW – An Official Competition
We have had an overwhelming number of great prizes donated for the event.  So, by popular request, we have decided to hold an official competition for those with that extra competitive drive.  Each heat will have 5 official judges, allowing for up to 5 competitors in each heat, and a total of 50 competitors (25 men and 25 women).  There will only be an RX division, sorry no scaled for the official competition, with one winner each from the men and the women. Competitor’s scores will be determined by total numbers or rounds and reps.  If a tie occurs the winner will be determined by a 500 m row-off for time.

The price for participation in the competition is a $35 donation, which will include an official event  t-shirt as long as you sign up to compete and pay by September 5, 2014. You can pay either in person or via PayPal, if you choose PayPal please email me at eastonslegacy@gmail.com to make arrangements (for those who have already purchased shirts you will only need to pay the remaining $15). As long as we have not exceeded the maximum number of athletes you can still sign up until the day of the event, however the price will remain $35 with no guarantee of a t-shirt (sorry, we have to have the order in on September 5th).

Prizes for each winner will include (but may not be limited to):
·         One certificate for a RX smart gear jump rope.
·         One certificate for a pair of natural grips.
·         One - 2lb jug of Cellucor Cookies & Cream protein powder.
·         One - 4 pack of FitAID.
·         One Smart Shaker bottle.

You do not need to compete in the official competition to participate in the general WOD!

Official Easton WOD T-Shirts
We have also already done our pre-orders for the official Easton WOD t-shirt however you can still get them for $20 if you order and pay by September 5th.  We will have a limited number of extra t-shirts in various sizes to sell at the event for $25.  Check out the blog archive on June 23rd, 2014 to see the t-shirts.


Door, Raffles, Auction Prizes, Food, etc.
We have had well over $2000 worth of amazing prizes donated for our door prizes, raffles and online auctions, and the donations continue to come in from the CrossFit and local community.

Door Prizes – As a thank you, each participant in the general WOD and the Official Competition will be given a ticket for our door prize drawings.  Door prizes will be drawn randomly throughout the event.  You must be present at the time of the drawing to win.

Raffles – Raffle tickets will cost $2 each or 3 for $5. You do not have to be present to win however you will be responsible for picking up your items.  They will not be delivered to you.  Prizes will be on display in some manner at the event.  You will place you raffle tickets in the jars adjacent to the prize for which you wish to enter the raffle.

Online Auctions – Starting September 1st will have several online auctions.  We will post pictures of all our big ticket items on both the blog and Facebook. Blog bidders can email me their bid as well as the item they are bidding on at eastonslegacy@gmail.com If you are outbid I will notify you. Facebook followers can simply comment with their bid amount on the picture of the item they are bidding on.  To join the Facebook event page, go to 7th Annual Easton’s Legacy. Bidding will go from September 1st through September 20th at 6pm. Arrangements for the payment of your action must be made within 24 hours of the close of the auction or your prize will go to the next highest bidder.

Samples
In addition to a number of other prizes, Cellucor has sent several hundred samples of their Alpha Amino blend for event participants to try.  We will also have lots of bottled water for drinking.  If anyone knows of any other organizations that might like to sample their products, please get in touch with Kursty at klhatch@cox.net.

We are super excited for all of the additions to this year’s Easton’s Legacy event and are super appreciative of everyone and every organization that has donated.  Very soon we will update the blog with the list of all prizes and individuals/organizations who have donated.
